Pure Positivity

I've been on a bit of a Macklemore tip lately and after watching this clip I feel it's completely justified. Watch and see for yourself.

Struggle builds character and if there is one artist that personifies that expression his name is Macklemore. Back in 2005 he broke out into the scene with, "The Language Of My World" which in my opinion is an instant classic. If you listen to that cd it's clear that he was toying with his love for drugs. Roughly 4 years later he made a breakthrough on multiple levels. A more refined and refreshed sober Macklemore hit the scene running. This song shows just a sliver of what happened during his 4 year stint. Macklemore has done countless mixtapes, remixes and cameos only to solidify his desire to be a thought provoking revolutionary artist. If you look at the song you will see that it describes the terrible affects of cough syrup. The first verse of song begins with a young man taking cough syrup for the first time because "its the same stuff weezy is sippin on and tons of other rappers that be spitting hard." The kid is influenced to take these drugs because his role models use it regularly.The verse ultimately ends with the death of this very kid. Verse 2 (summed up) "He just wanted to act like them he just wanted to rap like him us rappers underestimate the power and the effects that we have on these kids...Syrup, Percocet and an eighth a day will leave you broke depressed and emotionally vacant, despite how little Wayne lives its not conducive to being creative and I know cause he is my favorite and I know because I was off that same mix.
