Cunninlynguists - Makes You Wanna Cry ft. Sheisty Christ

Had to put these lyrics up they are just to hot to contain. I've got more to say but need some time to digest. Lyrics: Cunninlynguists - Makes you Wanna Cry ft Sheisty Christ Ohh my Makes me wanna cry Listen I see crabs climbing to be free When dog eat dog is the royal decree Trust nobody Mayflower to Tipi Over the meak sand winds since BC You blame D.C. I blame life She blames Allah he blames Christ We put out bounties we pay that price For green backs we backstab and won't think twice It's more money more murder more homicide Over dollar bills free will creates Amistad I'm a slave hard to escape the cell And I ain't brave just because I moved to ATL Couldn't pay me well enough to sing your fairy tail The cherry that I'm smoking doesn't choke me like the very smell of life Raw and uncut Sex drugs and gun lust land of the unjust Ohh my Makes me wanna cry I see Men on chairs with suicidal tendencies and tears falling down Th...

Cunninlynguists - Move

Image
Get Bramstoked off coke and fight day. A couple of years ago I lived in Oakland and while I've been there a number of times since I simply forgot how rugged those streets can be. My place was on 24th and MLK right on the crossroads. One side was poverty, crime, drugs, hookers, and graffiti the other; corporate headquarters, fine dining, and high rises. I walked 12 blocks on San Pablo avenue Saturday morning before 9 and what I saw was entirely different from anything I see where I currently live.  An elderly Asian man riding his bike on the sidewalk approaches a bus stop where two other men are smoking a blunt having a profanity laced conversation. The man on the bike hopes off and tries to pass but while stepping aside one of the men smoking yells, "Nigga why you on the fucking sidewalk you dumb fuck!" A block  later I hear a woman yelling at a stumbling man, "Mutha fucka you don't own my shit." At this point, while I'm not scared by any means, m...

Cunninlynguists - Darkness

Searching for answers is like searching for Atlantis Regardless of who you are or what you're capable of achieving there will be multiple points in your life where you will feel overwhelmed. You'll feel lost beyond belief and not even know how you got so far off track. When you look up and realize that you're in such a lost and dark place you may very well question everything in life. What's right may seem wrong, and you may want to shift your thought process in order to adjust to your new surroundings. When that happens sit down toss on some headphones and take a very deep breath.  RELAX...remember who you are, remember where you came from, and more so than any of that remember what made you who you are today. What helped define you to get to where you are now? Why abandon that so readily? You'll be tempted along the way and stroll down the wrong path for a brief moment. It sucks and is something when you look back on with a clear mind you will regret, but...

Kno - Rhythm of the Rain

Image
She's my sunshine but I'm catching melanoma I've always thought that Tunji was one of the more talented up and coming artists ready to hit the scene with a big bang. Unfortunately it appears he's put his mic aside to become an A&R for a record label and as far as I'm concerned more power to him. He just has that certain lyrical prowess that allows his skill set to outshine just about everyone when graces a track...that is unless Kno decides to bring his A game.  Kno's verse is beautiful mess. It depicts what it is to fall in love with a maniac depressive woman tying it altogether with a metaphor of a bumpy plane ride. I love this song and in particular his verse lends a helping hand to someone who's fallen down that same twisted path. Lyrics: Kno - Rhythm of the Rain (ft. Thee Tom Hardy & Tunji) Dancing to the rhythm of the rain How could I go wrong? I was ruling my mind I must have been blind Dancing to the rhythm of the rain How could I go...

Cunninlynguists - Stars Shine Brightest (In the Darkness of Night)

Image
Sometimes in life you'll smack directly into a wall. Every effort you put forth feels like a failed attempt and your natural response is to give up. The darkness of night begins to take over as you rationalize every reason for your lack of success. As you decide to concede to your ambition you'll spiral into a whirlwind of failure. You'll question every step you made and ponder if you ever had what it takes to make it.  This is the exact time when you find out who you are. As you're engulfed by the darkness remember that stars shine brightest at this very moment. Look within and grab that last little shred of confidence you possess. Don't be naive, don't be cocky, instead pull your chin off your chest, look up, toss your headphones on, and embody this track.  Lyrics: Cunninlynguists - Stars Shine Brightest (In the Darkness of Night)  [Natti] You can only see the stars when it’s Don Cheadle black when the chips are down who dips and who reacts?...

Cunninlynguists - Oneirology (The Album)

Image
Just when I thought I couldn't be more impressed with music I get slammed in the face with this album. Cunninlynguists comprise a good portion of my scarce posting around here, so I'd say thats a pretty good indicator of my almost unhealthy infatuation with these guys. They continually put out a great product and as a consummate consumer I'm rarely disappointed. I bought this album on pre-order, got it right when it came out, and still have yet to stop their lyrics from seeping directly into my brainwaves. It's a whirlwind of joy, harsh reality, and constant double entendre's. Regardless of their educational background all three of these members are extremely cultured and incredibly gifted in the art of rhyme. On the track "My Habit" Deacon and Natti show their fierce wit. With lyrics like, "protect my pride, my lioness mane" you will be sure to be wowed. I suggest everyone goes out and purchases this awesome LP. Lyrics: Cunninlynguists - My Habi...

Tunji - Still Rising

Image
Back about 6 years ago Toby and Tunji created a group called Inverse. I remember when they first started up I was going to college down in Pomona and they were also at a university in the same town. When they were absolutely unheard of they hit up my on my now defunct myspace page. Their album "So Far The Collection" was something I felt deserved much praise. If I remember correctly Tunji had concert for one of the Claremont McKenna Colleges where he had both the Cunninlynguists and Cee Lo preform. I think it's actually because of his introduction that the ballad "Caved In" was created. At any rate he formed a friendship that has begun to blossom. This track is produced by Kno and even though it's a couple of years old it's a real gem. I've heard via the rumor mill that Tunji is soon to release an album on Qn5. Hopefully rumors become reality. Lyrics: Still Rising - Tunji We on our way to the top and still rising We on our way to the top and still ri...

Kno - Spread your wings ft. Deacon the Villain

If you don't know now you Kno. Death is Silent by Kno (of Cunninlynguists) was just released a couple of days ago and this CD has been playing almost nonstop in my que. I suggest you all go out and purchase it. Many of the tracks are hard hitting with cameos from some of my favorite artists. In particular I think "Spread Your Wings" shows some pretty raw emotions. Deacon delivers some real life strife discussing the difficulties of love and long distance. The constant turmoil of his career has created chaos in his love life. These kinds of problems are common in many peoples lives and it has become something that we just have to learn to deal with. On the other hand Kno expresses the pain associated with abortion from a males prospective. You can tell he still thinks about what could have been as well as the remorse and guilt from not trying to stop the process. This is all pretty deep and touching for a hip-hop track. What else would you expect from the Cunninlynguists??...

Cunninlynguists - To Be For Real

Cunninlynguists appear to be the guys I post on more than any other artists. From time to time I catch myself flipping through my blackberry only to find my ears engulfed in pure positivity. The only just way of describing this group is prolifically grime. Their sweet southern style laced with raw lyrical talent ensures they will always be a top 5 for me. "To be for real" depicts the obsession we as a society have for celebrities. The constant love and overall infatuation with fame is stunning. Paparazzi, sex tapes, scandals, love triangles, reality television shows, make no sense to me whatsoever. Whats the big fucking deal? If you share my philosophy to this bizarre "fame" obsession then this song is for you. Lyrics: Cunninlynguists - To be for real [Chorus] From make believe Well I want to be for real [Verse 1] Some are real as the line in their big face bill Others are counterfeit living off of Xerox meal Quickly coming out their mouth like they put out grills S...

Posse Cut of The Year

So today I hop in a car and turn the radio on. Something I rarely do, but I had no CD’s in the car. I heard this song it totally re-affirmed my belief that the radio plays some pretty twisted stuff. I really can’t comprehend why they do what they do, but it is what it is. So I heard all these top stars Drake, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, and Eminem on one track and got me thinking. These are arguably the best in the biz right now. I looked online and apparently Jay-Z said this track is the “best posse cut of the year.” Yo, Jay did you get a chance to hear Cunninlynguists new album “Strange Journey Volume 2?” I think you need to think before you speak. On “Close Your Eyes” you have arguably the best in the underground scene laying down some refreshing lyrical content. Lets rate the songs and decide which is the winner. We will rate this on 4 categories; beat, production, lyrical content, and delivery. So we start with the beat. I am pretty bias on this one and prefer “Close Your Ey...
