I've said it time and time again, Oddisee is nothing short of a renaissance man and I'll go into his album in a moment, but before that let me give you all a little update. Although I haven't posted in ages hip-hop still is the main force that motivates me on a daily basis. I most certainly haven't lost touch with what inspires me to be better. Not many of you know anything about me other than my small snippets of writings, but I have goals and aspirations to leave a lasting impact on society. In the past year I've fallen in love with the most amazing and intelligent woman on the face of this earth. She's beyond brilliant, gorgeous, and is a doctor who wants to dramatically help with global health. My insurance brokerage has grown substantially and I'm extremely blessed to be able practice business in an ethical manner helping my customers on a daily basis. This all being said when I started this blog I always had the idea of doing something far greater....

Shortly after dropping my mixtape and album of the year Oddisee decides to give me one more remarkable treat. It's a confection sweet like stevia; all natural and guilt free. His flow parallels a calm creek quickly shifting to white water rapids only to ease up to that perfect portrait. It's an unprecedented balance of camel cool minus the naive bravado. With Oddisee you always know you're going to get a quality track destined to be stuck on repeat. Sometimes you got these problems on your mind. And people will tell your sorrow, you'll be fine. But I don't believe that, you see that's a way of being lazy. If you want it got to get it, if confronted and you quit it, then you're nothing but a victim in a system that we living but forgiven if you want to start again. If you follow this blog in any way, shape, or form you'll notice that Oddisee has really been on my radar as of late. After dropping Odd Renditions he busted out his first official album People Hear What They See . Each track has it's own provocative, and even more so than that, proactive stance that keeps me yearning for more. Oddisee's cavalier D.C. style puts things perfectly into perspective. I love the quote I have listed above and feel it really represents what it takes to succeed. Rarely do I wait impatiently like a child on Christmas Eve, but after hearing the first leaked track I knew this 4 song EP would be something special. To me Oddisee is the genome for hip-hop. With top notch lyrics only exacerbated by production worthy of a royal seal, he consistently generates music that embodies the virtues of an art form that's currently tarnished. But don't be dissuaded by a little rust, with artists like Oddisee that tarnish quickly becomes a priceless patina. I'll let him hammer it home with a verse I feel personalizes my point. Often a rendition of a classic is done so with a lack of sensitivity required to even dignify the remix. None of this holds true when a renascence man takes the reigns. Oddisee is much more than an artist, he's a genius of production with an extensive lexicon when it comes to musical notes.  Another worthy note is the incredible music video to accompany this remix. I've noticed the amount views for this video has greatly increased in the past week and am happy that Oddisee is getting a taste of the recognition he so justly deserves. Overall I love his take on this track and look forward to hearing the other 3 songs on the upcoming EP, "Odd Renditions." Africa has been raped and pillaged for the quest of global supremacy. What was once called manifest destiny left a continent in complete shambles. The pieces have yet to be picked up and attempts to do so never bring these nations into the first world. It's sad, depressing, and outright disgusting. Oddisee and Apollo Brown decide to openly discuss the systemic problems running rampant in Africa. It's a touching track that puts things into perspective. Lately I've been on a bit of an Oddisee tip and for justifiable reasons. Intellectual lyrics and polished beats make him an artist well worthy of heaping praise. This scrupulous trio leaves no question about their maturity and philosophies to life. On a filthy beat from the one and only Oddisee you get a track showcasing an absolute slaughter. It's refreshing, clean, and full bodied all in one. I wish so much that this track could hit the radio. It's got the type of beat that would burn the air waves up with a substantive message not drenched in cheesiness. Add the fact that the music video is exceptionally well done and you have a joint that should be blazing the blogosphere. Unfortunately a lot of incredible tracks get slept on. Oddisee is the embodiment of a renascence man. He produces, raps, and even manages the mello music group. He's a hardworking individual who portrays his personal growth on this elaborately produced track. I feel as if his first verse is a perfect painting of my development as a human. It's encouraging to see a boy transform into a man and do so with dignity and respect. If you haven't heard it yet this is an excellent song that solidifies Oddisee as a first class artist.
