Shad - I'll Never Understand

Shad has officially become my favorite artist. His lyrical prowess, depth, and raw emotion literally put tears in my eyes. Now that I just purchased "When This is Over" I have this amazing mans complete discography. He is hands down the most prolific and genuine artists of any genre. Here is the rundown on Shad K. Born in Kenya Family from Rwanda Grew up in London, Ontario Lives in Vancouver Has a degree in business Is getting his masters degree Has 3 albums Doesn't cuss in his songs Real name Shadrach Kabango He doesn't smoke Shad has this uncanny ability to create double and even triple entendres with the drop of a hat. t It's clearly beyond remarkable. When listening to his lyrics you can tell he has a great heart and moral fortitude that won't erode. The latter point being insanely important. In an industry that takes aspiring humble artists and turns them into two bit TMZ tokens it is extremely easy to loose hope. Kayne West looked like he would bring art...

Shad - Get Up

When people ask my what my beliefs are, whats important in life to me, or my cultural influences I have but one answer for them; Hip-Hop. In a society that appears to be plagued with piss poor excuses for morality it's rather refreshing to see something different. Hip-Hop gives me hope. Artists expressing their discontent with how things are and their unadulterated desire to make a positive change literally puts a tear to me eye. In this song Shad expresses his deepest desire to never give up and in turn "get up" in the face of a "passionless nation." I have felt down-trotted, beaten, even lost at times by peoples inability to feel compassion for other human beings. When you are in a society that idolizes every sweet syllable spoken by slutty celebrities like Kim Kardashian or the fact the news of Tiger Woods appears to be more important than the BP Oil spill you have a serious fucking problem. When I hear realness like this to music I can totally relate to it d...

Murs - The Science

Murs is one the the most positive artists out there. He is apart of two of the more prolific hip-hop groups in the game; Living Legends and Felt. When he chooses to pick the mic up on his own it always ends with an essence of truth followed by emotional discontent. For me Murs is able to help me scrap together my scattered inner thoughts, bring them together, and give me that extra push needed to succeed. Murs - The Science from 2dopeboyz.com on Vimeo . Lyrics: Murs - The Science So I'm at the barbershop And we talking about this new generation of hip-hop And how, how lost you all are man But y'all have no science So here you go The systematic knowledge of the physical world Gained through observation and experimentation Usually beginning with a hypothesis Or what some may call an estimation Record your results from a series of tests And what your left with is a theory at best Now let me give my hypothesis, an educated guess On why my people on the whole seem to be such a mes...

Cunninlynguists - To Be For Real

Cunninlynguists appear to be the guys I post on more than any other artists. From time to time I catch myself flipping through my blackberry only to find my ears engulfed in pure positivity. The only just way of describing this group is prolifically grime. Their sweet southern style laced with raw lyrical talent ensures they will always be a top 5 for me. "To be for real" depicts the obsession we as a society have for celebrities. The constant love and overall infatuation with fame is stunning. Paparazzi, sex tapes, scandals, love triangles, reality television shows, make no sense to me whatsoever. Whats the big fucking deal? If you share my philosophy to this bizarre "fame" obsession then this song is for you. Lyrics: Cunninlynguists - To be for real [Chorus] From make believe Well I want to be for real [Verse 1] Some are real as the line in their big face bill Others are counterfeit living off of Xerox meal Quickly coming out their mouth like they put out grills S...

The Roots - Dear God 2.0

The Roots have been staple in hip-hop for many years now. Their name is synonymous with untouchable quality and for that I always anxiously await their cd's. With the newest addition "How I Got Over You" a remix of Monsters of Folk "Dear God" has been reincarnated into "Dear God 2.0." One of my favorite attributes of these living legends is their ability to pump out some the highest quality music videos. This song poses questions that many religious men ponder. So enjoy it for what its worth. The Roots - Dear God 2.0 from Deejay Vince RU on Vimeo . Lyrics - The Roots - Dear God 2.0 [Intro] Dear God, I'm trying hard to reach you Dear God, I see your face in all I do Sometimes, it's so hard to believe it... But God, I know you have your reasons (Uh huh) [Verse 1] They said he's busy hold the line please Call me crazy, I thought maybe he could mind read Who does the blind lead? Show me a sign please If everything is made in China, are we Chi...

Ariano - Song For You

The internet really is a phenomenal resource to find quality music. I am surscribed to a number of users on youtube who constantly enlighten me to top notch hip-hop. Today jamutka 57 uploaded this gem. The lyrics aren't incredibly prophetic, but the song speaks, and sometimes thats just more than enough. Album is free download here: http://www.sendspace.com/file/ooxsib Lyrics - Ariano - Song For you Don't ask me why I'm crying Listen I'm still down here while your up there And ever since you left I don't trust how I fear The death took my breathe not enough air My brain cluttered thoughts not clear The pain in your mother its hard to cover hear tears And pictures don't explain what remains here Memories have change and they can lock you down And I can't say your name without dropping to the ground Knees are dirty I feel unworthy I want to help but the pills hurt we Take another shot and smoke another joint Hide myself in sex I missed the point I passed ...

Unknown Prophets - Explore ft. Braile

Stimulating your spine while dripping raw motivation into your veins this song is pure goodness. Between the Prophets and Braile you have a wonder team of undamaged pure drive. If this song doesn't motivate you to get off your ass and explore then you are lacking the very skills required to be a functioning member of society. Breathe the whole track in and enjoy. Lyrics: Unknown Prophets - Explore ft Braile Don't you ever feel like screaming At the top of your lungs for no reason In the middle of a crowded place And people stare at you like you are from outer space And don't your ever feel like dreaming Trying to grab something when you can't quite reach it But you know if you work a little harder You might be able to get it if you stretch a little farther And don't you ever feel like taking a risk Even if it really doesn't make any sense How will you ever know what you are capable of If you don't step outside of your box and make an attempt And don't yo...
