Wyclef Jean

So Wyclef is dropping a new mixtape in a week and these are the first couple of lyrics: Some funny stuff man happened to me I signed an autograph for a kid, Clef form the Fugees Kid looked at me and said what, “what the hell is a Fugee?” “Ain’t you Will I Am from the Peas?” I’m a fan, but no I ain’t Will I Am Let me introduce myself to the new generation I’m Wyclef Jean singer, song writer, composer In high school I used to be a battle rapper Then I got with the Fugees hiatus 15 years later still sold more records than all of you put together That’s just a piece of the biography of Wyclef Jean You can’t describe Wyclef better than that. He has been in the game for so long and has been so damn influential to so many it is almost disrespectful to know hip-hop and not him. The Fugees are one of the mega groups and there very few artists more talented than Lauren Hill or Wyclef Jean. So for all you youngsters or people who just don’t know who Wyclef ...

My Mission

I grew up in affluence with a foundation and tools essential for success. Both my parents have advanced degrees in Psychology and were positive role models who inspired me to be the very best I could be. What makes me more qualified to start with this kind of foundation? In the lottery of life I would say I am pretty damn lucky. But I don’t deserve this anymore than the next man, woman, or child. What about all the people who grow up in atrocious neighborhoods where the philosophy to life is entirely different? No role models, no tools, no money, no real way to even have a fighting chance from the get go. My goal is to inspire, educate, motivate and activate these people towards a more prosperous lifestyle. I want to lead horses to water, horses that have been so malnourished that drinking water doesn’t even seem like a necessity to their life. It’s very sad to see the vicious cycle of poverty repeat itself over and over again. My father was motivated enough to break out of that c...

A Piece of Strange

Let’s talk about lyrics, southern style and absolute inspiration. Without the Cunninlynguists my life would definitely be lacking. It’s tough to get gritty and raw on a track while discussing issues that most people choose to look right on past. I can actually thank my ex-girlfriend for introducing me to probably one of my favorite tracks of all times. After we broke up I checked her myspace page (back when I had it) and saw this song “Nothing to Give”. At the time I didn’t even know who the Cunninlynguists were, but for once cyber stalking turned out to actually be productive. Okay so lets start by clarifying that if you don’t have “A Piece of Strange” you just don’t have one of the greatest CD’s of all time. Without being bias, which I am very often, there isn’t a single song that isn’t worth replaying over and over. I think when I first got the CD I listened to it for over 30 hours straight. I can do an analysis on each and every one of these songs and it would be like peeling ...

Georgia

Roughly 3 weeks ago I become an uncle to my beautiful niece Georgia. When you think of a song titled Georgia instantly Ray Charles pops into your head, but for me I think about the most prolific southern rappers. So here is to you Georgia there is no better way to honor your birth than with this. When your clique is called Cunninlynguists confidence and a dash of cockiness are attributes you definitely possess. With the exception of the Dungeon Family, Outkast included, there are no southern hip-hop artists that even get close to rivaling the Cunninlynguists. Wonderful wordplay mixed with production that is tighter than Richard Simmons pants, these guys are truly the best. The group was originally made up of Kno and Deacon the Villan, but in 2005 Natti was added and the rest really is history. In the words of Tunji (a member of the up and coming hip-hop duo, Inverse) he simply states, “Kno you are a fucking genius!” Kno has production that puts Timberland and his thieving way...

Show em a better way

Dedication with a helpful handful of hard work can create magic. Don’t believe me…check out The A-Team. Abstract Rude and Aceyalone make up this dynamic duo. These guys really are as positive as it gets. I don’t drink coffee in the morning instead I let my ears ingest every syllable spoken in this song. The lyrics are pretty self explanatory so just take a listen and enjoy. (As usual I posted the lyrics below) Show em a better way We got to show em a better way Show them the poem I wrote Low and behold its so dope you get high Highly anticipated the vibe we generated Wildly imitated We’ve demonstrated this is what can happen when you’re an innovator Show em your battling scars We had our share of facing challenges hard Acey and Abstract send our regards To who we dethrone enemies own engagement on the microphone Same shit we been on for them styles are growing wild like weed plants even if they are in or out of season Spit at em at a gold and they be in...
