Horrorshow - Inside Story

Cunning and wise way beyond his years, Solo of Horrorshow, describes the disgust he has for the new world order. From what I understand he is only 21 years old and to have this much insight into life is really amazing. Absolutely fantastic track and what Solo may or may not realize is that he is making a difference just by creating music like this. Music has this profound ability to actually make a huge impact on society. Just by rapping about these issues it allows exposure to many. When you listen to this track you can't help but to critically think about all the valid points Solo has brought to light. Lyrics: Horrorshow - Inside Story It’s like something just over the horizon, I wanna take a walk, maybe see what we can find, look long and hard, look near and far, but above all things always look inside, listen in into these words from a citizen of earths surface, lets try and rewire the circuits, determine the purpose, meanwhile im striving for perfect but homie perfect takes pr...

Sweatshop Union - Oh My

Lyrics: Sweatshop Union - Oh My Fortunate for me, I couldn't afford to be fortunate, shit, we're like the kid and his fortune never missed, according to the landlord I'm poor as piss, Trying to get not as poor as Gordon Hicks, but I know, the only show supporting this, which I really don't know how to turn against, and I didn't just come here to moan and bitch, grown folks getting older on kids' benefits, it's, the return of the poor man's rap, for those who don't own homes off coke rap, and the raining and floods, showing that, so them old school cats still broke from rap, most they see the poor, what most em' sees ignore, while most these MCs were born and grew up poor, we'll be slaves in the old workforce, to pay for a government that don't work for us. (Oh my) oh, just trying to get my load out, (soul tie) fighting to get my, trying to get my, (low ride) from low to lately, it don't phase me, (poor rap) cause I make money, money d...

Lil Young

Masta Ace and Ed O.G. are pioneers of the game. These guys have been around since the late 80's early 90's. In '91 Edo (Ed O.G.) dropped one of his first commercial successes "Be a father to your child" a song depicting the importance of being a responsible father. The first verse starts off like this. Be a father if not why bother son A boy can make 'em but a man can raise one If you did it admit it and stick with it Don't say it ain't yours cause all women are not whores Ninety percent represent a woman that is faithful Between the two of them you have over 50 years of real life hip-hop wisdom. So when they teamed up to drop the album "Arts and Entertainment" I was stoked. They completely destroyed this track and every time I hear it my face uncontrollably smirks. The whole track is a complete diss to the industry. I wonder what Lil Wayne and Young Jeezy have to say about this jammer? Lyrics: Lil Young - A & E [Intro: Excerpt from New ...

RJD2 - Clean Living

Music calms the nerves and this track makes me feel like I just took a hot shot of heroin. The production is so un-fucking-believable that listening to this joint brings me to a humble homeostasis. I'm diggin' it = ). Completely off topic but this is a great quote my best bud showed me the other day: If I knew something that would serve my country but would harm mankind, I would never reveal it; for I am a citizen of humanity first and by necessity, and a citizen of France second, and only by accident. ~Montesquieu Lyrics: RJD2 - Clean Living Everything you are to me. Makes me think that you could be, The end to all my... Everything you touch turns right. Underneath your very eyes. Everybody's life rolls by, Like a melancholy song. Can you see me differently? I believe that you see Me. Everything you are to me. Makes me think that you could be, The end to all my... Everything you touch turns right. Underneath your very eyes.

Aussie Hip-Hop

More and more often I find myself rocking Aussie Hip-Hop. For me it's been like finding a long lost cousin that quickly became closer than kin. Thanks to www.hillydilly.com (if you haven't checked out the site its one of my favorites) I just found out about M-Phazes upcoming album dropping Feb 26th). After hearing these two teaser tracks there is no doubt in my mind I'll be the first person to purchase this album. Solo is slowly becoming one of my favorite artists. I have an immense amount of respect for his ability to tell stories. In this song the guy goes ape shit on production that progresses perfectly. It feels like you are on a smooth ride only to be jaunted and jerked around as the brakes slam on at the very last possible moment. Take this track for a tailspin. M-Phazes - For What It's Worth ft. Solo (of Horrorshow) Download - (from www.hillydilly.com) Lyrics - M-Phazes - For What It's Worth ft. Solo I remember my very first taste of this obsession Fresh fac...

Zion I - Sorry

To open up and honestly analyze oneself can be a very painful task. More often than not we choose to rationalize our problems and look at them through a murky lens. Zumbi guts himself and lets his emotions ooze ever so gently on Amp Lives beat. It's a very precarious situation but he does so flawlessly and I respect him greatly for that. As a man I understand the pain of seeing your father cry and to even brush the subject requires a very delicate touch. Maybe its late or that I have to get up early tomorrow, but I lack the words to describe how pungently powerful each verse is. At any rate this an awesome track from 2003's Deep Water Slang V2.0. As usual the lyrics are below. Lyrics: Zion I - Sorry Sometimes it's hard to say I'm sorry yo yo, eh, my raps written in a whirlwind, so if my tail spin just point at me and ill begin where the twirl ends its difficult to open up, wounds that never shut and watch it bleed while these rap critics eat it up but such is destiny, ...

Take a minute

Pillaged and raped through the constant dumping of nuclear waste, local fishermen armed with guns began to protect their coast line. It was only a matter of time before greed overwhelmed these men and transformed them into pirates. We aren't talking Captain Hook or Peter Pan here, this is Somali, the birth place of K'naan. The dirtiest depths of grit, grime, and struggle for survival makes East Oakland look like a damn luxury vacation in comparison to Somali. If you need any more proof that roses can grow from concrete look no further. K'naan is the light tower that keeps the smallest sliver of hope alive. He inspires and motivates just by being himself. Please just take a minute and listen to this incredible song. Lyrics: K'naan - Take a minute And any man who knows a thing knows He knows not a damn, damn thing at all And every time I felt the hurt And I felt the givin' gettin' me up off the wall I'm just gonna take a minute and let it ride I'm just go...
